Hello:
I need help turning this:
"here man go to http://mywebsite.com/user/mypage.php?id=4"

into this:

"here man go to <a href='http://mywebsite.com/user/mypage.php?id=4>[url]</a>

how about in your php:
$url = "http://www.site.com";

then in your html:
hey man go to &lt;a href="&lt;? echo $url; ?&gt;"&gt;&lt;? echo $url; ?&gt;&lt;/a&gt;

well, that's not quite what I'm looking for. I wanna make it so that when a user on my site includes a URL in their post, no matter where, it turns that URL into a link. so that if a user posts this on a forum: "hey man, check out this website www.gotothisplace.com/something.php?id=1"

the actualy post would read as "hey man, check out this website [LINK]" and link would take you to that website

You'll need to build a regular expression with a back-reference e.g.
ereg_replace((url regular expression),"&lt;a href=\"\1\"&gt;\1&lt;/a&gt;,"your string");
