Create Database

Hello,

I'm going through Julie Meloni's book PHP Fast & Easy. I'm running NySQL 3.23 and Apache on an XP machine as services.

Propblem is I can view lists of databases and tables, but whenever I try to create anything new I can't.

I know I'm connecting to MySQL, because the script bypasses that die function, but no luck on creating new info. I've tried the scripts on a Win 98 machine and I can create new info there.

Has anyone had the same problem and know the fix? Thanks for your time.

The next step after establishing the connection is choosing the database (just like you would do if you did telnet into your server). Sample code would be:

$sqlString = "select * from table where ID = $ID";

$db_cnx = mysql_connect('hostname', 'username', 'password');
mysql_select_db('database', $db_cnx);
$queryResult = mysql_query($sqlString) or die(mysql_error());
$recordCount = mysql_num_rows($queryResult);
$outputData = mysql_fetch_array($queryResult);
