I am putting together a web site where my clients will upload photos into a database. I want to display these images as a thumbnailed list, then allow them to view full size.
Is there any way I can resize the image (so users don't have to down load the entire image as a thumbnail) on the fly with out installing the GD Library?
Thanks.
Try imagemagix for linux.. its a command line image toolkit.. more then good.. we use it on one of our portals (about 1000 new car images a day)

"upload photos into a database. "
bad idea, save the files to disk instead.
"Is there any way I can resize the image "
Yes, like Querner said, imagemagic does that job, and so will a few others if you type your search in google :-)
