i have windows XP, 2000, and 98, and i stil prefer using Linux...
Maybe if you got off "your lazy but" and tried linux, you would realize how good it really is.
Second, if you dont like PHP, or Perl, why did you post this? none of us care if you like ASP. And if Perl and PHP suck so much, why do so many programmers use it?

ASP is generally written in VBScript, which is based on Visual Basic, which is based on Basic, which dates back much longer than Perl!!!! Therefore, ASP embraces old technology, rather than new, cutting-edge ones. Furthermore, Basic (standing for Beginner's All Purpose Symbolic Instruction Code) was designed to introduce programming techniques to new programming students. So why use a language for newbies? Why not use something more powerful??

Ah, it's nice to see that there are still plenty of Windows advocates in the world - who knows: maybe they'll have some influence someday.

PHP is based on Perl, which is a venerable language.

But what's this ASP? Oh, right. Probably means VBScript - you're on the ball there Diego. But what's wrong with using an old language? It's better'n being beat over the head to learn a new one every six months by somebody wanting to sell more product - C#, anyone?

Well, I have to use ASP daily as we have a "mixed shop" at my job. let me just say, VBScript sucks! Just look at the VBScript manual at devguru. There's like 50 functions, etc. total. I was always looking for some third party component....which costs money to do something that PHP does intrisically. Things like handling arrays, etc. are a joke in ASP/VBScript. I think MS actaully did something right coming out with c# to replace old, outdated BASIC...uh, VB/ASP...I mean. Even if they did rip off Java (the little I've looked at seems quite similiar anyway.)

just so you know i use a windows machine to do my development...but that doesnt mean i hate linux..infact if i had the knowledge i would use it to learn Linux but right now i am into PHP and its cool as i can do stuff that HTML restricted me too. plus i just learned how to run Apache/php/MySQL as a service on my win2k box and it is great and ASP is more confusing then PHP as PHP is strait forward.

what are you a retard.... ASP is windows SAD excuse for a comeback to php. Nothing will be better than php... other than a new version... Windows 2000 is to much of a hasle and ASP just is a downright sorry excuse for a scripting language!

ASP, Windoze, IIS, msSQL- cost too much when compared to Apache, Linux, php and mySQL. Why pay that much when you can get it free!

And the funny thing is...they are just as good!
