preg_replace with "[" characters : OUCH!

Hi everyone,

I've tried to find a post relating to this but I probably to fool to find anything...

Here is my problem:

I would like to parse the content of a variable containing text like that:

My text here in red
and replace it by the html code corresponding:

My text here is red

It's a nightmare because I don't know if it's me again but the syntax for the preg_replace is very complicated, and I can't manage to find a web site that explain something else than the piece of code that is on the php.net official page.

If someone can help me, I would reduce my stress so much!!!

try following:

$string = '123456 My text here in red 123456 My text here in blue 123456';
$string = preg_replace('/[color="(.)"](.)[\/color]/U', '\2', $string);

echo $string;

the forum didn't replace < & > in the tag, so here I put a space between the tag:

$string = '123456 My text here in red 123456 My text here in blue 123456';
$string = preg_replace('/[color="(.)"](.)[\/color]/U', '\2', $string);

echo $string;
