unique table

I have 2 tables

name - location

i want set up a unique but on both.

example

user - NYC keep
user2 - NYC keep
user - NYC toss

basically i want the unique to be for BOTH columns. Can this be done? I will be able to have multiple user with the same name and multiple users from the same location. But if user AND location are identical, it will not import it.

Just define a unique index on both columns, read your database's SQL manual.

Not two indexes one on each column, one index on both columns.

hmm so 1 index on both columns? now that throws me.. i know how to make 1 on 1 column using phpmysqladmin but not 1 on two columns...

is that what you are saying?

ALTER ignore TABLE people ADD UNIQUE(name, location)

but i keep getting
'Specified key was too long. Max key length is 500'

In PHPMyAdmin, you're actually going to have to edit some SQL.
