Posting to a DB and sending e-mail at sa

I don't know if this is even possible, but I thought i would ask.

I'm currently posting my companies press releases via a form to an mysql DB. After I post the release, I then go to the e-mail client and format the same press release and mass mail it to my listserv for distribution.

Is there a why to have the release auto sent to the listserv upon submission to the DB?

If I'm not mistaken, all you need to do is call the mail function after you do the insert statement. <a href=http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.mail.php>Check Here</a>.
