Textarea Problem

I am writing yet another portal system. my problem is that i have an HTML editing form, this includes a textarea block, which contains the file, now if my file has a </textarea> included, only a portion of the file is shown. I realise that the browser thinks that this is the end of the block, but how to overcome the problem???

with &gt;

as i thought the ampersand chars were interpreted..

replace < with &amp;lt;
replace > with &amp;gt;
