Float values in form

Hi,

Does anyone have any pointers on the validation of float values used in a forms. It seems the <input> can't help here as float isn't a value you can use.

I was wondering if there's any functions that validate whether a float was entered and also mase sure that the decimal places were correct.

"is_float()

                           (PHP 3, PHP 4 >= 4.0.0)

                           is_float -- Finds whether a variable is a float

                           Description

                           bool is_float ( mixed var)

                           Returns TRUE if var is a float, FALSE otherwise. 

                                 Note: To test if a variable is a number or a numeric string (such as form input, which is always a
                                 string), you must use is_numeric().
