php and forms

Greetings all, I figured someone might be able to give me a code snippit that that have in a matter of seconds. Then I could learn quite a bit from it.

I am not a programmer, but slowly learning the wonderful art of PHP...but here is the question.

I am wanting to write a little script, (like a poll) that users can goto, and pick (or type in) their geographical location.

I would love to have a main screen that does Country...

Then for locations in the US, have states and or cities.

How are PULL down menus implemented in PHP?
I tried something similar a week or so agao, and could not figure it out, any help is greating appreciated.

They're not, they're implemented in HTML.

You could use a database with a table of countries, and US states and so forth, but how often do they change? (East Timor notwithstanding.)

<option>Afghanistan
<option>Albania
...
<option>Zambia
<option>Zimbabwe
</select>

Then when you process the script, the country name will be in $POST['country'] or $GET['country'], dependning on whether you specify a POST or GET method in your <form> tag.
