Session_start

Hi,

I downloaded a script for authenticating users on a website. Because my PHP knowledge is not yet good enough i have some problems with this script. When I logon I get the message:

"Warning: open(/tmp\sess_001d9c9dcd1b31efc219e2ae36b38cbc, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2) in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\login.php on line 41

Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (output started at c:\inetpub\wwwroot\login.php:41) in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\login.php on line 52"

Line 41 is: session_start("pageprotect");

What exactly does Session_start do? Is pageprotect some kind of variabele?

Hello,
session_start("pageprotect") tryies to open file, where all session informations will be stored. It seems that it want to open this file in the /tmp directory, which probably does not exist on your system. You can try to create a c:\tmp directory on your comp.

I don´t know the first warning, but the second one. Your PHP document have to beginn with:
<?session_start()
NO SPACES before this statement !!!

'session_start("pageprotect")' starts a session named 'pageprotect'.

I changed the session path in the PHP.ini file to c:\temp and now it works!!
