Session vars empty

hey everyone I have sessions that I am stroing across mulitple pages and then dumping them into a database, but when I look at the session file all I see is

!allquestions|!providerID|!learningobjectives|!overall|!worklife|!courseobjectives1

there should be values for each on of these, I just moved my site to a live server, so I am sure that it is probable just a setting somewhere, I looked at the php.ini file,and tried a few things, but to no avail. It is wierd that it is writing the variables but not the values.

Any help would be great (:

the live server may not be configured, or differently configured for sessions. use the phpinfo() function to compare the session setup between the two.
