Can anyone tell me how to begin writing the script for the following example or lead me to a tutorial:

At the moment i have a database table called categories, it consists of cat_id, parent, name and info.
The second table is businesses. This has bus_id, cat_id, name, description, pic.
Can anyone give me some tips or guidence on where to begin and what sought of things i will need to do?
