One of my job requirements at the website I work for involves the frequent rotation of items on the home page. This home page is largely compartmentalized: there are two banners, some buttons, and some middle sections that all have rotating content and rotating images. Up until this point, I've been rotating the content every day manually, but I'm convinced that there's software out there that will automate the process for me.
What I'd like to be able to do is to tell this software what's 'in rotation' (ie. what the ten banners are and where they link to, what the fifteen column buttons are and where they go, when these things end, frequency, etc) and have it manage the content from there. Unfortunately I don't know any CGI or Javascript so, short of learning them, I'd like this software to be relatively simple.
Additionally, it'd have to be somewhat intuitive; sometimes banners require different types of links; sometimes I don't want specific banners AND specific buttons occupying space on the homepage together. So it'd have to be reasonably smart.
To sum up: I would like for banners and a certain content set to randomly rotate. Down the line, I'd like for there to be some some of front end content management system that could facilitate these changes.
Can anyone tell me if this is even remotely possible? And if so, how?
Thanks!
