Have the Idea but how make works??

It's just the Idea , i really don't figure out how do this .
Then like all people say , find a Guru =) , here i think that exist alot of then =).

Very well .

Let say that i have a page , the user need login in this page with (Login/Pass) and have it store into a Mysql DB.
Simple Ok.

Then the registered user are there , very happy looking my pages inside my site (All PHP) watching and reading any kind of stuff .

Then i need the system show a interactive (realtime-automatic) popup to that user if let's say enter a new product in store ..

Then the user it's there watching my stuff, and a popup automagically appear showing the new product (This only trigger if something new enter of course).

My question is how do this ??
How make my php trigger a Popup screen with something writed on it, but only when something external occurs ???

Even me , let's say i want to send a message in a popup to my users from console (I'm under linux !)...
How do this ?? I think it's easy ... but i don't know how do .. =)

You could have a function at the start of each page that a user can look at, which queries your MySql for changes.

If there is a change then then the function could popup a new window via JavaScript with the new information.

Ok good idea .

But how make this from a console mode ?

I think put a refresh at 10 seconds maybe .

The problem is , if i put over a javascript the user must re-enter or refresh the page to see the new information .

How make this works without refresh ? I think it's impossible .
Then how triger this javascript to only appears when have informations to pass ? He can axley read a .txt file (I'm over linux people) , from my console .
Then like this .

Let's see if this works :

1- on (Ok show javascript)
0- Off (Don't show javascript)
PHP File -> check a file .txt (Have 1) then triger in any page -> This javascript reading this information (info.txt).

If O do nothing of course .

Then i just change the info.txt with i need.
And in the pages i put a refresh to 10 seconds .
(Exist a way to put a php script with refresh without the page itself ??)
then he start the popup script automatically ?
