Passing sessions variables after login

After my users login, I want their username and password to be passed via session variable to the 'Add an Add' page; on the add page, they can insert a new classified ad; I want the username to see pressent on the page in a hidden field where it will be insert along with the new ad info. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi!

After your user's login you may create a session file with user informationen. Your login script generates an unique SessionID which is passed to all your scripts. The scripts read the user information from the session file (which should have a name like [SessionID].sid to recognize it properly) and put it on the page or in hidden form fields.
You should put the session files in a secure directory (e.g. "deny from all" in .htaccess).

I'm not using .htaccess, I am using MYSql.. what would be the syntax?
