longer "commands"

I have a big problem.
How to execute with exec() nmap oder this kind of programms? When I wanna to execute nmap on one ip only the output: Starting nmap V. 2.54BETA30 ( www.insecure.org/nmap/ ) comes.
No any lines? How to work?; with flush()?
