Transparent SID propagation not working

If I know php was compiled (on Solaris) with --enable-trans-sid, but the SID is NOT getting propagated transparently to any URLs, etc....then what might be the problem? All I want to do is maintain state without cookies, and without having to include <?=SID?> in my URLs, form fields, etc.

I have been searching extensively every under rock I could find for 3 days, and found a one, unanswered post similar to mine.

Any ideas?

I have compiled and had it work successfully on solaris 8. If the browser is accepting cookies it doesn't complete the url's. It also will not touch urls that have a get string or handle forms for you. I may be off, and I have just recently started using sessions, so I could be wrong, but this was my take.
