unknown strings sent to form

I've been asked to create a general .php page that can basically write (to a flat file) a string that has been sent to it. I know how to do this if say, the following call was made: "index.php?sn=FOOBAR". but, i'm having trouble understanding how one would pull "index.php?FOOBAR" (where FOOBAR is unknown; i don't know the contents) in for processing.

If I understand you correctly, you want to write a string to a flat file but you will not know what the string is going to be called nor it's contents. I would suggest that you just iterate thru the contents of the $_REQUEST array which will have GET and POST variables in it and write them to the file.
