uploading files

I'm a "n00b" to php and I need to upload files to my database
I saw several scripts here but I dont really understand them

I don't know wicht type my field should be for this and how I should code it...
the uploaded file should go directly in my database

so if any1 has a script that would solve my problem I really would appreciate it 😃
