Simple php login

OK.

Very stuck here. I want to create a simple login but don't know where to start.

I have a mysql database with a table with 5 fields, id, company_name, username, password, url.

I want a form where users (i set users via phpmyadmin) can enter their username and password and are taken to a page that displays the url asigned to that user in the database.

Elementry I know, but I know very little about this topic and don't know where to start. Can anyone help me out . . . please??

Make a normal html form which goes to a .php page
In that page use

SELECT * FROM database WHERE username='{$username}' AND password = '{$password}'

if They are correct then print
Congratulations you are logged in click here to procede and make a link with the database url.
otherwise
print that was incorrect with alink back to the form

I know its not exactly what you wanted but its a start ?
