Splitting Article Across Multiple Pages

I have a db that stores the location of an html file. I want to display the first 1000 words and display additional text on subsequent pages. Unfortunately the file contains html so I can't just count the words and display.

Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

What you need to do is strip the HTML first the you can do wht you want with the text

But then I have to redisplay with the html, how would I do that?
