Text and Images

In my database I have text info such as author subject state etc. . . I also have the image information such as name, size and type. The images are being uploaded to a directory and I cant seem to pull them out.
Should I be trying to match the filename from the database then searching the directory for that filename? I'm so lost. I gusess that's what I get for being green at this language. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you move them from the temp directory? Did you rename them? If not, they'll have a generated random name.

Yes, the directory holds the proper name, I'm just not sure how to grab the image. If I put the actual file (eg. image.jpg) instead of the name that's in the database (eg. $imagename) it works fine. I guess I am just having a problem with the script grabbing the name and retrieving the file from the directory. Or should I say I am having the problem?
