How to obtain the username in a network

Hi all,

I'am trying to set up a log page for persons visiting certain php pages, but I can't manage to obtain their username, or machine name, or whatever.

I guess it should be possible without prompting the user, as we have some modules in asp that does that.

Please help, I'm totally lost...

Unless you force a user to login, there is no username to get. You can get the users IP and sometimes their hostmask if that is what you are after.

Strange,
On some part of the intranet, when we open a page (in asp), we only have access to "our data", with name, computer name and so on...

So I guessed that if that was possible, it should also be possible in php...

I'll look a bit further... but with less hope...
