Standards

At my job, we are talking about standardising the way we do things.

Such as DB Field names, variable naming conventions, etc... etc..

Im sure we are not the first ones who have thought of this idea, are there any places to go for any kind of "official" conventions for things, especialy DB Field names?
example:
First Name = FName
Last Name = FName
etc..etc..
