Checking day against date?

Hi,
I have a form, where people enter "$day,$date,$month,$year" i.e. "Saturday,8th,June,2002" I need to be able to check that this is a correct date. I can use checkdate to check the "8th June 2002" but not that this is a saturday. Does anyone know if this is possible? So if someone enters friday 8th june 2002 it'll return false?

After checkdate(), you can use getdate() and use the 'weekday' entry of the returned array to check against the user's input.
