Table Sizes Please HELP.

Hi,

I did post this earlier, and no response so I am posting again. Sorry.

I would like to know how I can change my Table sizes (width) in my PHP scripts. Below is a sample of what I have.

Now I changed the 30% from 15% and I see no difference at all.

2 things:

First: Use '' or even "" for the args of an HTML tag.
Second: It depends very much on what the other cells contain. I explain myself. Say you have a table with 4 cells. 2 rows, 2 cols. You give 50%-50% to each. Then, you decide to give 25%-75% to the first row.

Result? Nothing happens. At least in my experience. The cells in the first row control the width of a table.

And, more important than the above. Before posting such a question (not even PHP), try to mess round with your code so much you just can't do nothing else. Then, when you want to bang your head to the wall, you post.

I never saw forum as a place for people to answer my questions no matter how they were.

What... you think we all want to sit around and say, \"hey man, how is it going? how is the garden doing? Yah.... I like php too. Php is real neat. Those php people are real neat. Going bowling sunday?\"

I could NEVER understand the mentality of people, in newsgroups, forums, etc., who think newsgroups and forums are NOT for answering questions.

I understand that you may feel that Mr. Sprinkel\'s question is, \"dumb,\" but, I remember, years and years ago..... when I had the same question, it was NOT dumb to me! Where do you draw the line between a, \"dumb question,\" and a really good question? Do you consider a, \"really good question,\" to be one that you can\'t figure out? If you would perhaps post a list of the words, questions, and topices that all of us can type about, that way, we can make sure we keep this forum up to your standards.

By the way, Mr. Sprinkel, with html tables, the only way you are going to have, \"absolute control,\" over the way tables to look is to use spacer images in the top row, with fixed pixel widths. <tr><td><img src=\\"spacer.gif\\" width=\\"100\\" height=\\"1\\" alt=\\"alt tags\\"></td></tr>

I didn't mean a forum wasn't for answering questions. As a matter of fact, i answer somethign like 10 questions a day in this very forum.

What i said to him (read and you will be enlighted), is that "mess round with your code so much you want to bang your head to a wall. If still you don't have an answer, then ask"

I never post things like "how about the weather"

I consider that if people have a problem and come straightforward to the forum THEY NEVER LEARN, BECAUSE THEY GET USED TO HAVE THEIR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

What i said to Ron is that he has to code,code,code,code,code,code and even code a bit more, and AFTER THAT, use the forum if you still don't have an answer.

That's all. I use google when i have a doubt, and 90% of the time it works for me. I think it is much better to try to do it yourself than just asking someone else to do it for you.

And not because i dislike answering questions. As i said, i answer a lot of them, as much as my knowledge allows me to.

Ah, one last thing. I don't have that mentality you speak of. I used to be a newbie in PHP some time ago, and i tried to ask only when the doubt was too hard for me (like trying to stablish a DSN-LESS connection to MS Access from PHP, till i discovered you cannot)

No, Mr. Sprinkel. Absolute pixels is NOT the only way to do it. You can use % and IT WORKS. At least for me, and i've been coding web pages over a year now.

Well I had read on it and read on it, and then coded and coded and coded for 8 hours and It still doesn't change. I am not the one to ask before trying till I cannot try anymore. I guess I will have to go elsewhere to ask my little questions, or maybe even buy hundred PHP books. So thank you Mr. Joeller and Mr. Flipis Sorry that my question to you was a "ask before try" question
