holding session values

Hi All,

I would be grateful if anyone could help.

The problem is I cannot get php to hold sessions correctly, it does hold some for a very short time and does not seem to update them correctly. I think it may be a php.ini config problem but have no idea how to solve it.

The funny thing is it works fine on my system but when i run it on an other system (with the same versions and config, apparently) it fails.

There are the following directives in your php.ini:

<B>session.cookie_lifetime</B>
Make sure it reads
session.cookie_lifetime = 0

<B>session.gc_maxlifetime</B>
This controls how many seconds the session lasts before it is seen as garbage. Try to use 1440 (20 minutes)

Thanks for your reply, the php.ini file already has these settings.

I have compaired the php.ini on my system and on the other and the [session] parts are identical.

Could something else be causing this?

Then, i don't know. Can be your browser (if it's IE 6, look at the cookies, this mother$#%& makes strange things to sessions)

hmmm.. it might be a Web Server problem then, I am running it on NT4 IIS4.

Solved it.... It appears that something in the php.ini is in an incorrect order on the fialing system.. I copied the php.ini file across and it worked. It may be the part that you have to configure manually on Win systems using cgi enabled, cgi.redirect =0. The failed one had this at the bottom of the file but the other system had it in the original place.
