finding unclosed tags

Is there any built in function or easy way in php to find out any unclosed html tags.For example if a string in like
<font color="#ffffff">test
then it should report </font> is missing

This is the way I do it:

1. Run PHP script thru browser
2. Save HTML code in hard drive.
3. Change extension .html to .xml
4. Use a XML parser to parse the XML file. If there is a missing tag, the XML parser will complain and you'll know where your error is.

thank you for your reply

but this does'nt suit for my application.This will report only one error.What i want is a list of such errors .
For example if an html page has 12 unclosed tags then our script should findout all the 12 with line numbers

please help me
