hey everyone i'm working on my frist real script, i have finally got this guestbook to semi work but it seems that when someone say types something in and they use an apostrophe like "...it's blah blah..." everything after the 's' goes to the next field that i have split.

i'm kinda new to php so if anyone can give me some pointers, i would greatly appreciate it. feel free to email me at [e-mail]

try adding an entry with the apostrophe and you'll see what i mean.

use addslashes before putting the data in the DB:

let me try that but i am using a flat file. i decided to use a flat file because its pretty much all i need for this guestbook

ahhh i think i fixed it. when i was splitting my flat file i accidentally added a backslash to one of the options so everytime i have an apostrophe it converted it to a backslash which in turn split the line

Hi, I tried out your guestbook. I would recommend what is called "striptags" (strips out html tags) so that people won't put html stuff in there (or, even worse, php commands to goof up your site)
