Dad Joeller just showed me something as inventive as sliced bread...check this out:
If I do a huge query (looking up 200 records in a 100000 record database), I literally cut my time in half by putting this at the top of my result page:
<?php
ob_start('ob_gzhandler');
?>
(this compresses text and decompresses it for browser) What's the catch? I read that "Recent browsers support compressing..." But, if I have a really old old browser that does NOT support it, what will happen?
Anyone have experience with the drawbacks of this? Will the ob_gzhandler SLOW DOWN smaller query results?
Thanks
