include problems

I am trying to include one php file in another. They are both in the same directory on my web host's server. I used this line:

include ('array.php');

I got this response:

Warning: Failed opening 'array.php' for inclusion (include_path='./:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/bigmista/bigmista-www/xxxbigmista/maturemoms.php on line 2

When I tried using the whole address I got this:

Warning: Failed opening 'http://www.bigmista.com/xxxbigmista/array.php' for inclusion (include_path='./:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/bigmista/bigmista-www/xxxbigmista/maturemoms.php on line 2

Can someone please help me figure this out? It's quite frustrating.

should it be include("somefile.php"), not include('somefile.php')?

I tried both ways and

include "array.php";

and

include 'array.php';

Same results.

Are you sure you are obeying case sensitive rules here? One little "r" instead of an "R" will do you in. (I'm assuming you're on a UNIX box.)
For some reason I've never been able to fathom (even tho my web host tried to explain this to me) why some PHP set-ups do not like to include files in the same directory you are including them from!

I know this sound ridiculous, but it can occur. Why? I dunno. Depends upon the dicks who set this stuff up, as some of them tend to orbit Pluto before they head home every evening. I'll see if I can find a link to that article the web host gave me to explain all of this. You are welcomed to make some sense of it.

Wouldn't make a difference, because the string "array.php" doesn't mention any variables.

Maybe safe_mode is in effect (see php.ini) and the script and included files are listed as having different owners.

Also, instead of using a URL when using the whole address use the whole filename ("/home/bigmista/...../array.php") - you're including a file, not a web page. But the include path already mentions the current directory.

my guess-- the include path is set up incorrectly in the php config file. your code is fine.

i think there is problem with safe_mode, indclude_path and sym_link... try to discuss it with provider or look at your ini file... may be you can find some better help on http://bugs.php.net
