Little help??

Hello everyone,

Anyones help on this will be great.

I have a users full name like : Joe Smith

What I want to do is break that into First name and Last name (assuming First name is always frist and then the last name)

Is there a code which looks at the string and stops at the space in between first name and last name then assign the part before the space to variable $firstname and the part after the space to $lastname?

Yes. Look at preg_match().

or explode() works also, without regular expressions.

Yep, but then this was the second time the exact same question was asked in less than four hours. I thought I'd give a different answer than those given there. I decided against a substr/strpos combo, but the for($i=0..strlen-1){if($string[$i]==' ') approach had me tempted.

Actually i found it. I can use split() for this. And good thing is it WORKS lol. 😉
