url to blank from database

ok I print a data from the database:
print '<a href="' .$row["url"]. '"><img src="' .$row["picture_name"] . '" target="blank"></a>';
now the "blank" is not working, why?
how does it have to look like?

try putting the target in the first tag ie

<a href="' .$row["url"].'" target="_blank">
