Get Function for multiple pages

I am trying to run a site that will allow referrals. To do this with the multiple pages, I need to allow the end of a URL string to be passed. An example would be:

www.blah-blah.com/index.php?id=4

to

www.blah-blah.com/join.php?id=4

to

www.blah-blah.com/info.php?id=4

and any other pages. Please help with this.

One simple way to do this would be to write a simple program that knows what to do with the information EX: referrals.php and this program would grab the $id and process it. Then on each of your other file just put require("referrals.php"); and it should work for any page you want to track.

With doing this, it sounds to me that it would track hits or something. I need something for memberships. Just the join part. I have the coding down for entering everything into the database (MySQL), but what if they search other pages? That is my dilemma.

Will this work for that and do you know where I can get a program to do that tracking? I thought it would be a simple Get Function or something like that.
