Need help with forms!

well here is the problem, im trying to add a big chunk of text to a database using a form (its for a news system), anyways when i try to add it, it does nothing! The submit button won't even do anything, it just stays on the same page (its not a problem with the DB since ive manually been able to add large strings to the field).
anyway i have no idea what's wrong, any help would be good.

oh and another question, how do i get PHP to add a <br> (or \n) where RETURN was pressed in a text area?

Well, if the submission never happens then it can't be a problem at the server end, because the server doesn't get involved until the submission takes place. Are you sure your HTML is correct?

For your other question - you can convert the \n entered by a RETURN keypress into a linebreak by means of the nl2br() function or a bog-standard str_replace() call. Isn't there some non-HTML-spec attribute associated with textareas that controls how wordwrapping is handled? Something about VIRTUAL or PHYSICAL or whatever?
