Replacing string through form

Dunno if there's any easy answer to this. Am v much a beginner. Here's an example of my problem

I have this string in a php file

<?php
$goalie="browntest"
?>

I want the user to be able to replace the word browntest in that string with the word bluetest by using a form. Is there any way this can be done? Can I simply replace the phrase

$goalie="browntest"

with

$goalie="bluetest"

by using a form?

Any help would be gratefully accepted.

Yes, use a select html form object, named "goalie", that contains 2 values : "browntest" and "bluetest".
Then, the user selects one of this two choices and hits "submit".

there's a zillion ways to go about this. to replace "browntest" with whatever you want, here's the script:

Sorry guys.. haven't made myself clear on this:

<?php
$goalie="browntest"

sits on top of a php file which lists a football team and also dictates to the rest of the file what the value of $goalie will be in all other areas of the file where it appears.

the idea is that the user can change
<?php
$goalie="browntest"

?>
to <?php
$goalie="bluetest"

?> through a form. I've tried what you suggest and it doesn't work. there is not just bluetest involved. there will be 30 other names that they could change that value to. sorry to be such a pain.
