random !'s in mail()

Hi everyone.

I'm sending HTML formatted e-mail with the ol' mail() function.

It works awsome, except that I'm noticing an exclamation point followed by a space (! ) just randomly appearing in the sent messages. I mean totally random... sometimes right in the middle of a word (eg. hel! lo).

Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas what I can do abou this?

I know this doesn't help, but it is happening to me too exactly. It wasn't an important application, so I nevere pursued it. At least you know it is not something you have done.
