PHP sucks for Oracle Apps

After hours and hours of researching online documentation and discussion forum threads I have concluded that PHP is a poor choice for enterprise applications because if its shitty API for connecting to Oracle remoltley.

This is why it will never be adopted in a seriose environment and other technologies such as ASP and JAVA will always dominate, MySQL is ok for joe blow but not for banks, insurance companies etc....

Why dosent the PHP community spend a little more time integrating proprietary technology with opensource so it can be used in an enterprise.

What a dissapointment, I will hang up my PHP hat and go and by a ASP manual and start coding with Microsoft or maybe <Cold Fusion>

and whats wrong with mySQL? if NASA can cwitch over to mySQL from Oracle... then why cant any other top dogs can do?

PHP has come a long way in the very few years it has been around. PHP has passed ASP as the most used server side scripting language. It has grown exponentially. ASP is a good language too. Just be ready to pay for your support, and if you need a module, open your wallet. MySQL can handle up to 8 terabytes of data right now. Do you plan on using that much? This is way way more than any BANK would use in 5 years.

You are obviously the "please me now" self gratification type of person who ignorantly meanders through life, changing lanes at the supermarket because you see a shorter line, and in doing so, never quite make it to the checkout line.

I have had no problems what so ever using the oracle API. I run an MIS for the company I work for which accesses Oracle, MySQL and Postgres with no problems what so ever.

Are you sure this isent a case of "a poor workman blaming his tools"?? just because you are unable to produce the results that you expect first time doesn't mean it can't be done.

Have another go. Bury asp and cold fusion in the backyard.

Your a lamer, manual is poorly written and support is not existent, as far as MySQL this is a non acid compliant database, what’s up wit that?
