text area + flatfile

Here's the deal.
I'm trying to make a simple guestbook. All I wanna do is take name etc and a comment and insert it into a text field.
The thing is, when I try to insert the textarea into the flatfile, and there's more than one line, all I get is multiple lines inside the flatfile itself. Wich I don't want.

I'm trying to parse this with nl2br but I can't seem to get it on 1 line in the flatfile. If I don't get it on one line it's kinda hard to output all this correctly.

Made a news site before, but then I used mysql and that was A LOT easier. Never had a problem with this back then.

nl2br adds BR tags; it doesn't remove the \n characters.

Do this:

$newstring = nl2br($oldstring);
$newstring = str_replace("\n", "", $newstring);
$newstring = str_replace("\r", "", $newstring);

The two str_replace functions will get rid of the new line (\n) and carraige return (\r) characters from the string.
