encryping data from forms in the url

I was wandering, i've created a form which requires a password, it dosent have to be the most secure thing in the world since im new to php, but the password can be seen in the url, e.g
index.php?user=me&password=mypass

is there any way i can encrypt the password that is in the url?

or you can set the display of the password in the url to hex, so unless someone can read hex like regular text, it'll take a little longer to read.

phpBB uses the text to hex for the passwords, check it out.
