HTTP authentication with PHP

hey, I was searching on the net and I came accross this page:

Firstly, for the 1st example I am able to make it check to see if password is right, but if they enter the wrong password, I can't get it to work so that they can re-enter the password.

Next, I played around with their second script, but now when I open the page I get this message:

I don't know much about PHP by the way

When sending headers it must be the first thing thats done in the script it cannot be done later.
