TWO requests in ONE UPDATE stmt

I am trying to effect 2 different colums in a single record... and I can with TWO separate Sql Calls (see below)...

BUT it seems to me that I can combine this into ONE UPDATE call... with multiple SET Field requests...

Example:

$sql="UPDATE table SET field1=field1+1 Where (record_no='1')";
$sql="UPDATE table SET field2=field2+1 Where (record_no='1')";

Help Please

try this:

$sql="UPDATE table SET field1=field1+1, field2=field2+1 Where (record_no='1')";

That was the first thing I tried... a simply comma to break it... I don't believe it worked... I will try again...
