Thumbnail Pictures in PHP and MYSQL

Evening all,

How you doing... right straight for the jugular.

Im writing a shopping cart application and need a few pointers. I was wondering how to store pictures thumbnails of music albums? i.e. how to upload and store it in a mysql database.

Does anyone know any examples they can point me to?

Is it pretty straight forward? Have not done PHP for one and half years so I appologies if it sounds like a stupid question!!!!
