Mail() Problems Question

Hello,
If I am using the mail() function with the subject, to, and message parameters (of course), and also headers X-Mailer, From, and Reply-To, with no other settings or options, are there any systems or configurations that the mail command would NOT work on for some reason? And if so, how can it be fixed?

what errors you get? just list a few

1) your php.ini have to tell what is the smtp server.

2) how do you set up you smtp server?

I don't get any errors, but, I am wondering what on another system could cause the command to not work, so I can make work-arounds for that in my script.,
