Creating a file

Hi i need to create a file to hold a string of text from a form, something like this :-

'b1_txt=home&b1_url=index.htm&b1_target=mainFrame'

I need the file to be called 'info.txt' I have made the form post to a file called add.php3 but i am having problems with creating the file and adding the string of text. Any examples would be great.

Also if i run the page again i want it to overwrite of the text file and create a new one. Is this possible?

Hi,

After checking that you have enough permissions, try the sample below to create a new file and
update it when the http request occured;

$test_fp=fopen("/www/htdocs/blabla/info.txt","a");
// if the file existent, we will update it; if not, we will create and update it
fwrite($test_fp,$my_text);
fclose($test_fp);

We used 'a' operator when using the file; if you use 'w' operator, the system checks the file
is existent or not. Then, if the file existent, the system add new string to the file.
Otherwise, if the file is not existent, file opening error occured!!!

File opening modes (hot from the docs):
'r' - Open for reading only; place the file pointer at the beginning of the file.

'r+' - Open for reading and writing; place the file pointer at the beginning of the file.

'w' - Open for writing only; place the file pointer at the beginning of the file and truncate the file to zero length. If the file does not exist, attempt to create it.

'w+' - Open for reading and writing; place the file pointer at the beginning of the file and truncate the file to zero length. If the file does not exist, attempt to create it.

'a' - Open for writing only; place the file pointer at the end of the file. If the file does not exist, attempt to create it.

'a+' - Open for reading and writing; place the file pointer at the end of the file. If the file does not exist, attempt to create it.
