Where Clause with 'contains' ?

Can I do a where cause (as part of a select statement) that looks in a column just for and returns containing certain words... NOT a search persay...

Example...

i want to find just results where the name field contains the WORD 'mary'

WHERE name ='mary' will ONLY return records that ONLY contain the word Mary... and not those that contain 'mary jones' etc.

can anyone give me some syntax on this?

is it a wild card thing or what?

use:

like '%mary%'

instead of ='mary'

The % is the wildcard.
