Problem getting variables from GET/SEND.

I´m having a major problem. A buddy of mine upgraded PHP on my server today to the latest version. Now all of a sudden none of my sites are working. As I run a couple of communities I´m getting spammed like crazy about this and seriously need help.

I think I´ve isolated the problem down to that PHP can´t find submitted variables.
For instance when a user enters his username etc in a form and submits it as username the receiving page can´t find the $username variable. This pretty standard code worked fine before and I haven´t done anything to it.

ANY ideas on how to solves this please ?

wow, you are like the millionth person to have this problem on this board! (i too had this same problem just a couple months ago :-)

Check you php.ini configuration to ensure register_globals is ON.

register_globals registers variables like $formVar, or $inputText.

The SAFE and SECURE way to get form variables is to use:

$_GET['formVar']

or $_POST['formVar'] (if your form METHOD is POST).

right now, to save yourself some troble, turn on register_globals in the php.ini file.

but i'd recommend you start using $GET and $POST in your new scripts... :-)

I had these problem too after upgrading; I think it's because new versions of PHP - post 4.2 - set register_globals to off by default, while pre 4.2 it didn't ..
