php tries to download instead of executi

I just reinstalled apache 1 and php 4 on my redhat linux machine. I wrote the test script /<?phpinfo()?> to see if php is working but when i type in the addres http://localhost/testphp.php it asks if i want to save or open. Why isn't it brining up the script.

also, I tried to list the module by LoadModule php4_module modules/libphp4.so but the module isn't there. so that doesn't work and i believe all my AddType's are correct any suggestions

If the php module isn't in the directory it's supposed to be in, somthing went wrong in the install. If you're compiling from source, make sure you use the option "--with-apxs[=/path]"

If you installed from rpms, uninstall, and then reinstall. Then check your httpd.conf for the correct directives and restart apache.

I highly recommend Troel Arvin's php rpms if you want to go the rpm route. Do a google search for "arvin php rpm."
