Auth members and login setup

I am working on my members section now and need to figure out how to go about it.
I need the member to
1.create an account
2.get emailed the account info.
3.login
4.list products/update older products
5.logout

When the member logs in, i want him to be brought to his own page with all his info on it. I know this is where the PRIMARY KEY comes in correct?
I also need him or her to be able to see a list of products they've already listed so that they may either delete them or modify their info and re-submit it.
I also want them to be able to see the amount of products they've listed, but im sure thats just going to be a SQL query like, get all from member_id = current_login FROM products..or something like that

Am i in over my head, to me this sounds like a big project...

use a form to get all his info you need including email; use the mail(); function to send the mail out; the info is easily attained; just save the info in a column; everyeons layout will be the same; just call up the info from the their row and insert it into were you need it; login, if you want to keep it; id use session's; have it check against their username and password and if it comes back true; then you can have it insert a session for them; and the logout? session_destroy(); that will log them out🙂
